DB Reservoir huge development?

Seems like everyone is clueless about what is being built near the DB Reservoir.

Website intended to keep residents informed about developments only deals with bus transportation and opening of the DB Plaza footbridge.

http://dbdevelopment.hk/

Lands Department Ref # LD DLO/IS98/CLT/61V (M.P.7.0) Pr. 2 (May 28, 2014)

Proposed use/development: Public recreation facilities of not less than 13,000 sqm would also be provided in Area 2a/2b within 10 years.

I seem to remember those areas particularly were proposed to be another Bijou hamlet (i.e. develop another residential villa and golf course) but this was rejected by the government, so then they tried to apply for the area for use as a recreational facility suggesting uses like golf driving range, adventure park, rock climbing, organic farming, high rope adventure.

Admin/Common facilities = 850 sqm
Adventure Facilities = 8,250 sqm
Golf range = 1,470 sqm
Organic farming = 2,030 sqm
Golf parking lot = 400 sqm

Here are some satellite view images of the area in question and some other sample areas at the same scale for size comparison.

Location circled in red.

Area being developed.

Siena One (size comparison)

DB Plaza (size comparison)

North Plaza (size comparison)

Club Siena & Discovery College (size comparison)

DBIS & SKH Wei Lun (size comparison)

Marina Club (size comparison)

Sunny Bay car park (size comparison)

It's a mixture of housing and what HKR calls a Multi-Recreation Centre, which will supposedly include assembly halls, activity rooms, skate park, graffiti garden, workout area, climbing wall, pets park, barbecue area, campsite and observation deck.

The Lands Department had a 'public' (AKA secretive) consultation on the plan in April.

That's quite a departure from the proposal 3 years ago.  No mention of golfing, farming, adventure park. New is housing, skate park, assembly halls, pets park, camping, observation deck.

Have they released any information to the public? Any concept drawings? Any map? Feels like there's no information.

I have PDFs that were sent to the Islands District Council. I'd upload them here if I could figure out how to!

Got any ideas?

Otis, wow, that's a big surprise and very recent too since the submission is from February 28, 2017, less than three months ago yet they seem to have started work as early as 11 months ago. Residents already noticed development there at least June 19, 2016.

I didn't realize that area is maybe 40% of the actual plot. The current land that is being developed is labeled as "Residential Development"... why isn't it commercial? The only thing hinting at living quarters is "Ancilliary accommodations"... for what? employees? for camping?

So 60-ish% of Area 2a and the entire Area 2b is not thought out yet. The combine area looks to be about the size of FOUR DB Plazas. That's huge.

It seems that it's part of revision of their Master Layout Plan. Also mentioned is an ice skating rink to replace the exisiting DB Plaza bus terminus and an increase from 33,100 sqm to 157,100 sqm for further housing development north of DB for 1,791 residential units.

how is it possible that they are building such a huge development and no one knows?? I understand that this guys are more secretive than KGB but how could they destroy half of the mountain to build houses and people are not informed/consulted??
Shame on you HKR! Really cannot stand anymore this people...

just google "hk light pollution" and you will realise that hk is the world capital for light pollution. Then add to this the real pollution and the humidity and you can bet that hk will never host any astronomers rehearsal...  Wink Wink

parkvaledevelopment, thanks for sharing. Nice view. I wished there were more info on what is planned. It's almost as if they're just winging it as it goes.
