Taping your windows for typhoon. Is it safer?

I have read conflicting reports that taping your windows during typhoon is not really safer. Taping the windows prevents glasses from shattering but it also means the bigger piece of glass held together by the tape poses greater danger under the whirlwind. Keen to hear anyone with similar experience.

Should have your answer now.

Never taped windows, never had any broken. Seen some neighbors with their windows taped up. Funny to see them looking like the Chinese character for rice (米). Smiley

Also, found a shocking video of someone's apartment with broken windows.
