DB Residents Octopus Card

My family and I recently took up the offer of the DB Residents Octopus Card,mainly to obtain reduced bus travel within DB and the ferry costs to the Island, however the bus fayer is still $4.40, have I misunderstood the costs, any advice would be appreciated.

The only discount you get on the bus with the DB Resident's Octopus Card is a $1.10 reduction in the bus fare or ferry fare when TRANSFERRING between the bus to/from the ferry.. i.e. You will save $1.10 per trip when you take the bus and transfer to the ferry and vice versa.

The other discount is the cheaper ferry ticket fare of $33.50 instead of $46 for non-resident Octopus card.
