Tai Pak Bar

Tai Pak Bar is gone. A small area in the D'Cafe where the club put in 2 dartboards and 2 tv sets considered a pub. The set up is totally disgusting and no better than Mac's or any fast-food outlets. I'd always enjoy sitting at the bar on my own, watching sports on the 📺. The fun of going to the club to have a drink sunk.

That is a shame. The beer there wasn't exactly a bargain, but it was a nice place to chill in peace after the gym or a hike.

How's the new cafe?

I resigned from the club last month when I learned that this was about to happen. The pub was basically the only facility I have used in recent years and it really has not been worth the monthly sub..... but I kept up paying, reluctant to severe the link with a place I first used in the 1980s.

When found out that draft cider  had gone (they had two brands on tap) that was the final straw. I requested that they keep at least one brand in the new "pub" but was told the "manager" is against it.

Bye bye ! Tai Pak Bar.

What happens to the space then, surely it will be made into a new pub/bar eventually?

Sad about the Tai Pak, it was of its time and really needed to be kept...I loved it.

I miss Tai Pak - end of an era. The wonderful ambience gone, we now have to sit on hard chairs in acoustically challenged, austere surroundings - which they call 'design' - a dumbed down bar drinks menu, while kids dash through the Cafe....aaargghh!

The only acceptable way to enjoy a drink is on the terrace far from the madding crowd, weather permitting.
