garmato - just had a look at that DB development website you posted on another thread.  What is the grey semi-circle at the back of the bus station and what has happened to the Plaza flats?  Does anyone understand that perspective drawing?

Ger, are you refering to this? (in red)

The concept artist didn't bother to fill in the details of the DB Plaza flats. It's just a gray block. They did the same with D-Deck as well.

Yes, I was referring to that red-circled thing.  Ridiculous perspective drawing.

My other question is:  where are the buses going to go?  I thought the bus station would be on two levels.  And if so, how will the buses get to the second level?  The space for buses seems no larger than it is now.

Looks like the buses are on the upper level starting from the main road, so larger (double) than before as it will include the old car park as well as the old walkway all the way to the office and main multi-use buildings.

Huge increase in rentable space, they might force out businesses from flats to fill them. The new green park area looks set to add to noise for flats above if they plan to allow public access via the stairs from level below.

Ger, you have good questions and the fact you have to ask demonstrates HKR's website (http://dbdevelopment.hk) is insufficient in informing residents on development plans.

The link to dbdevelopment clearly shows the entry to the bus terminus is across from the road to La Vista. All buses are on the same level as the road.

Thanks, garmato, for not laughing at my question.  I'd been wondering how, if the buses were to be on the second level, they would get up there - a bus-lift perhaps Grin

I walked up from the ferry tonight past the construction site and, as Coppergoose says, Level 2 of the terminus will be roughly same as the main road - because of the slope of the hill of course.  More  Grin

Shops at ground level where the buses were before?  Is that what it's all about?

Ger, your question is sincere, why should anyone laugh?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_such_thing_as_a_stupid_question

I also assumed the existing bus terminus will be turned into retail space and the upper level (level to the main road) will be the new bus terminus. I think I read somewhere that said by raising the level, it also reduces traffic risks. There are photos of vehicles having accidents around the bends at the plaza and I recall an elderly lady was hit by a bus at DB Plaza as well.

It's quite amazing that they can make the bus terminus literally on the roof.

Thanks, garmato.  I hope the new terminus will be better arranged for safe pedestrian access.

A real problem with the positioning of the C4 and C9 stops was that as you left the Plaza, you could see and hear all the buses revving up to leave.  The temptation to run straight across the path of departing buses, rather than stroll sedately along the path and miss your bus was just too great for some.

I am surprised there were not more accidents.

Agree Ger, as the new space is larger with bus stop islands, they could erect directional barriers as they have done for the temporary arrangements with staff to help monitor and direct people.

They could design bus bays as in the airport where people step out directly to boarding areas.

I infer from the words on their website that the old foot bridge will close in the near future...

"The existing footbridge link (near Watsons Store) will continue to be in use until further notice."

The problem with this is you forever have buses reversing which is also a danger in such a confined space.

The bus interchange at Tsing Yi works well. It is on the roof and the buses come up the ramp and go clockwise around it.  All the bus stops are on the outside and the parking bays for empty buses are in the middle.  No crossing of open ground to get to your bus.

They come up one ramp , do a loop and leave by another ramp, both are one way.

The present loop system works well. Better than the terminus concept.

I just think the in and out ramp will be the same in DB where they drive off of the rooftop parking and on to the main road as per the pictures.

Surprise, surprise. Looks like the ground floor will be used for an ice skating rink.
