I was looking for any news regarding the helicopter search last night and stumbled upon this news.

Last month, November 9, a 51 year old housewife living in Discovery Bay was conned out of HK$8.2 million after falling for a phone scam from two men pretending to be law enforcement officers.

The first man informed the housewife that she is involved in a criminal incident. The second man instructed her to open a bank account and to deposit the money in three transactions. The woman realized her mistake after finding out the money was gone. Police are treating the incident as obtaining property by deception.

There are a lot of phone scams in Hong Kong, please do not entertain any phone calls from unknown persons especially do not give out any personal details.
