Ontime HK app is not working anymore. Does anyone know or can recommend a good app - with DB ferry and DB buses timetable? DB transportation app doesn't count as it is not good at all. Appreciate your help.

It's awful right JojoS?

I know its free, but for a company to put out an app that does not work, and they are incharge of running schedules of buses and ferries...it pretty poor!

I have to say it is sometimes magical. When I am at the bus stop and I tap on the DB Transport V2 icon, the bus appears before anything comes up on my android device's screen.

I think it must be the only update where the second version is significantly worse than the first.

I have never found any new technology to be better than the last.  On the contrary, it becomes progressively worse and more complicated to use.  See recent post about HSBC internet banking.

For DB timetables, I carry small ferry card in my wallet.  For bus timetables, there is this website to use on your mobile:

http://www.arounddb.com/info/transport

Why waste time and money with apps that are useless and only use up valuable space.

Haha, good one JojoS.

Ger, don't agree on this one.
In theory you should be able to press a button and get the info you need with a countdown clock.
The app could be fantastic, but sadly it is so slow that you cannot get the info needed before (as JojoS has pointed out) you have either missed something or found something by chance.

There are plenty of apps out there that really are just brilliant.
One I am using at the moment can read Chinese Characters and translate in real time!!

Well, maybe that was a bit OTT, but an app for DB transport is nonsense.  The times are so few that I know them by heart.  If I couldn't remember I'd think there was something wrong with my memory.

Agree some apps are wonderful.  A friend has one where you speak in Cantonese and the characters appear.

I couldn't agree more. DB transport V2 is pretty much the worst app I've ever seen.

As someone who writes iOS apps, I cannot believe that Apple allowed it through their audit. Surely it fails to meet their user experience guidelines.......

well maybe because we complain it too much, they now decide to take it down. No more apps. can either memorize them in your head or carry a small card in your wallet.

There could be a business opportunity there if anybody knows how to code apps.

I might be able to make a DB ferry timetable style app for Android. But I'm gonna try and make it for Windows 10 for computers, tablets and phones first.

I find just having a photo on my phone, linked from the home screen, of the timetable is far quicker than any of these apps.
