Following on from the successful event conducted in Cantonese the Society for Lantau Study has teamed up with Living Islands Movement (LIM) and Mui Wo Present to run a similar event in English. The sharing will introduce the rural planning situation on South Lantau and provide a basic introduction on how to undertake land research methods (including checking the zoning for areas and searching for land owners). We will briefly cover a Case study of recent Lantau conservation cases and an introduction to Mui Wo farmland research.

The main presenter, Miffy Ng, will also explain how the Lantau development proposal and planning loopholes will affect the natural environment.  Miffy is working on planning and conservation issues related to Lantau Island. LIM committee members John Schofield and Merrin Pearse will also share their experience of searching government land records.

This event is suitable for anyone interested in Lantau Conservation issues.  Bring along your own laptop or tablet so you can try out some searches for yourself.
