Slow service at Fusion tills
Jul 30th, 2010, 1:50pm

I really can't help ranting about the staff manning the tills at Fusion. They are so horribly slow, almost lethargic when it comes to swiping and packing items.

Some of them almost seem to do it on purpose - they are so slow and sullen faced - it's not funny.

I have missed so many buses and have had to wait for the next one just because of their attitude. It's at least a 10 min wait at a till, even when there is just one person in front with 5 items! And they keep running off halfway between the swipes too!

I understand that they aren't paid very well and have to do long shifts. But surely there is a thing called prompt service, especially in a city like Hong Kong.

I wonder if any of you have faced similar issues.

Yes, and unless you haven't noticed, there has been a 50% turn over in staff. Without training new staff, the situation will only get worse. Some have moved to Wellcome, or gone back to Tung Chung.   Cry

the check out staffs are getting slower these days and some are really taking their very own sweet and delicate time to move..!!

And yes I have also seen customer in front of me when paying by cash, flip and flip the purse in search for the coins for the payment!!!

Talking about the check out ladies... Lips Sealed

I sometimes try a really enthusiastic "hello", but most of them are so shocked by this, they don't know what to do!  And it doesn't seem to make them any faster unfortunately...

Learn to say "Faitit, faitit" - "faster faster"

The slow ones - avoid at all costs.

If someone flips around looking for coins, step up and breathe down their necks/ place my groceries on the counter to make a point.

Tell the cashier you are in a hurry to catch the bus/ferry which is usually true.

Some customers like to chat and the cashiers don't mind - so walk up and make noises to let them know you are waiting.

Try complaining to mgt - it does have an effect.

Try Wellcome instead. Generally the staff are very friendly and quick.

If you are complaining about the staff taking so long to scan and pack your groceries, perhaps you could pack them yourself while they are scanning ...

And, really, you people begrudge a customer having a chat with the teller??

I agree that they are slow but to me it looks like there are just not enough tellers on the registers. When I have been in there, there are often 4 people waiting on each till and there are only 3 tills open.  Don't know why the managers don't open more counters when there are lots of people waiting.

Starbucks, i agree with you. What's wrong with having a short chat with the cashier? Nothing at all. Also nothing wrong with packing your stuff by yourself to speed it up. It is most of times (at least when i be there) that customers slow it down coz they just start looking for coins/or start writing their details on the delivery form after everything is scanned. What a surprise.... oh i need to pay/fill in the form???
And TopRamen, why u missed the Bus?? You really think it's their fault?? Why haven't you start shopping 5 minutes earlier??  Wink And it's so bad to wait 10 min for the next one...
If this is the only problem we have in life....... how bored we are to complain about that?? Wink

fullmoon and senses: Really appreciate your feedback. But it helps to have people ACTUALLY read and understand what the original poster has written rather than going off on their tangential analysis about why it is the OP's fault in the first place!

For the record, I always pack my own stuff and I always reach the till well within a reasonable time of the bus schedule. I never said anything about not chatting with the sales staff but there is a place and time to catch up with them. Chatting at a till about what you had for breakfast is not one of them.

Yes, it is bad to wait 10 minutes for the next bus. Because unlike some people, there are people out there trying to do more constructive things with those 10 minutes.

Sounds like more cry babies in DB. I have missed buses because of people in line who don't move, can't find their money, or have too much in the basket. Cry cry cry! Grin Grin Grin Grin

senses, you don't understand. There is no difference between us.

I waste my time on the forum, you waste your time on the forum.

I cry about having to wait for a bus for 10 minutes, you cry about why I cried about having to wait for a bus for 10 minutes.

We are essentially the same, see?

Except that I don't bully people on the forum  Wink

i just love this topic.. Cheesy

easy way to fix all the problems in Confusion...
Hire only fully motivated , highly educated Staff on the minimum wage..
No talking to Customers allowed, minimum scanning of 10 items per 5 second period... that will for sure minimize people missing buses, wasting time,etc...
For Customers also a few new rules..
No talking to staff, fill in your home delivery form already at home, have your money ready in hands, any more ideas are most welcome.. Grin

cheers

The good ones get promoted to admin. - Peter's Principle at work

Full Moon - no one said moving the line faster would fix all the problems. Some of us would like to just get on with it.

I have taken to stopping by another PNS before the ferry to avoid our local Fusion  Cheesy

In the end, it's not that big a deal agreed just another one of those annoyances.

Anyway the comment I most often get from check-out gals is "Wish there were more like you!" said with a big grin   Tongue cos being nice, helpful and friendly does motivate them to work faster/better! One even told the supervisor off for delaying her while "customer is in a hurry and needs to catch the bus!" They appreciate customer using the octopus rather than fiddling with change.  Smiley
