indie, i'm totally agree with you!

I have in now way encoraged or asked people to join the forum to "skew" the results of the poll. Infact i know of only one person who has voted in favour of private cars and as you can see he has overeacted a little. When i was discussing this with him over a cold beer, i had no idea he would even visit the website.

As for the vegetarian resturant i see this thread as the resturant where the patrons vote for the style or cuisine of its choice whether it be a place that serves steak or a place that serves steamed vegetables. Obviosly people like steamed vegetables so the majority has it. For those who like steak well youre going to have to find another resturant. But on the other hand Maybe we can get by with a few veggies.

This is all very well but HKR has this in the plans and ofcourse when they want something they will get it. So whats holding them back? a governmanet grant. Which if and when this is granted it is inevitable.

Ofcourse this will go to the vote like the ferry change and the taxi service and look how successfull they were to the people who didnt believe in it.

I appreciate everyones input. This is why i opened the forum not to argue or get in fight but to share each others opinions as i said at the start WHOS WITH ME followed by a question mark.

As far as I can tell. you can park your cart pretty close to your place, unless you live at the wrong end of Coastline.
Greens/Sienna/Jovial etc/ Crestmont/Capridge/Hillgrove/Parkvale/Parkland/Hospital/Woods all have parking very close by.

There simply isn't the infrastructure to have hundreds and hundres of new car parks built into 'old' DB - if HKR were planning to try for private cars, they would probably build under/into the new flats - but they have to get government permission first. If the cars were limited to driving straight from the tunnel to the 'new' flat, then those of us living in the rest of DB would not be too severely impacted, and those of us not in favour would have a hard time convincing the government that it would adversely affect the people already living here.

If HKR is even thinking about this for 'old DB"(and we only have Charles' word that this is indeed the case) then I hope they are saving up a billion dollars to buy out all the golf cart licenses!

I believe that the only way they would be granted in the first place is to only get in the north side. if it was for all of DB which i am against they would probably replace our golf carts with a parking space worth equally as much if not more. I dont think HKR would imply that.

i honestly think this would be great would love to have a car always missed the luxury. but i would only want it given that it was restricted to the north side. i Dont think it would be as bad as everyone thinks it is because the traffic would not be affecting any other area then the north side which even then they only come and go they dont linger around.

What's wrong with a taxi stand at the toll station right after the tunnel?? Plenty of buses go there every few minutes. Take it from there folks.

Charles - when the property market gets busy, the turnover of properties is also higher. More flats/houses/golfcarts/carspaces to sell only offers an agent more chances to make a buck. It's no secret that when the market is on the up, property agents do well: if you don't believe that, then you'd be about the only agent in DB that likes it when it's slow!
If you want to start up a poll in some kind of self interest, then it's a bit rich to start questioning the results based only on the member's number of posts.

In Hong Kong, when property prices are up, more and more property agents open shop - and that is because there is more money to be made. When prices are down, you see property agents closing down everywhere.

It is a fact of life in Hong Kong that:

Property prices go up - more money to be made by property agents. Property prices down, less money to be made, and agents lose business and shut down.

A HUGE NO TO PRIVATE CARS!!!  

i give up on this debate about financial gain as i have said countless times before that is not why i am for the subject and then indie comes in again and places her facts. all well i guess its time to give up fingers are getting tired.

Blondie, i just thought it was a little odd but yes you are right if it is someone elses opinion regardless of the amount of posts then they to are entitled to share their opinions.

Comments on this forum are really neither here nor there....if HKR want cars coming in then you can be pretty sure they will eventually come in.  Kind of pointless argueing amongst ourselves...
