Given the history of this forum, I'd say it will start even before the doors open to customers!!  Cheesy

What kind of food does Rocko's do? is it a steakhouse.
and when will it open.
We could also do with another HSBC bank, chemist, and 7/11 in that plaza, then it would start to be workable.

The North Plaza was still a construction site when I was there last week. It's ridiculous shops and services are opening in an unfinished plaza, and by saying that I'm not knocking the shops but the numb-skull developers. Just goes to show how money-grabbing they are.

Anyway, back on topic, Rocco's sounds great.

They call it a bar and grill, so im thinking steaks, burgers, surf n turf...and drinks...

Sounds good to me, and -fairly- hard to do badly...

Also, who needs a 7-11 when the wellcome has cold drinks fridges, snacks, ciggarettes, and yes...condoms already.
Thats all anyone ever needs 7-11 for, right?

I agree it does sound great and the North Plaza has tremendous prospects.  Makes me wonder if they've run out of money and need some rental income to finish the site....hmmmm, a bit of a Catch-22 situation!

Was at Zak's for lunch today, and the manager told me that Rocco's was part of their group. Which means it's part of the Jaspa's, Soprano's, Wagyu, Pepperoni's chain.

Oh, well personally I think Zaks to be pretty good, so I do hope its a bit like that.

Chillypepper-I'm not sure, but I figured that they would be sold behind the counter that is on the far left. As is, not actually on the shelves. I could be wrong.

I actually like the food at Zaks - it's one of my preferred restaurants at the plaza. So I'm happy that Rocco's is part of their chain.

Does anybody know where in the new plaza Rocco's will be, upstairs?, downstairs? or on the sea front. Has work began on it yet.

Oh, the Cha family have plenty of that, don't you worry. Whether or not they're keen on spending it is another matter entirely!  Roll Eyes

Oh no, not at all.

They have a hundred or so workers down there every day working away. By the end of this year it will look pretty close to the final product, and have a few more tennants.

As for HKRI, thanks for my 7% dividend this year! Nice.
If you can't beat them, then you might as well join them...and at less than 2.5 P/E ratio, it still looks pretty good value.

Might even spend a bit of it at Roccos!

The other evening, passing by in the ferry, they had all the outside lights on and the 'tower' lit up - it looked very pretty.

With that many workers, surely it will be ready well before then, it didn't look that unfinished to me when I was there a couple of weekends ago ?

Yeah, you are probably right L&T!

I am being slightly pessimistic because they seemed to work solidly on the roundabout fountain for 2.5 years before it was complete.

Nooo, when I was there, barely a dozen or so... all swearing and smoking away, while maids and parents were walking kids in and out of the supermarket. Constuction workers will be construction workers, I guess!  Tongue

Mmmmmm, interesting point. Will have to look into that. Time to get some of THEIR money into MY pocket for a change!!  Wink

It looks like it needs another two months' work. But having said that, it's looked like that for nearly a year now!!  Shocked  So you're right, it seems like something's holding up the project.

Gwaijai, only problem with HKRI is that it has gone up about 25% since announcement of Annual results.

I still think its a bargain, but the stock is risky for short term.

Was up the NP again this morning and things are definitely shaping up, although I only saw three workers on site.

I could clearly make out two water fountains (HKR love their fountains, eh?) and a clocktower, with perhaps a carillon in it.

Should be nice when complete but God knows when that's gonna be.

Much as Zaks does the job and  we go there alot, I really hope this new place takes care of residents a bit more . I find it reallly arrogant of Zaks that they never take the time to refresh their menu, or even offer weekly specials (I know they have a special ozzie one at the moment, but I find it  unappealing and overpriced).
If they did change things round a bit it would be a refreshing change for residents who frequent the place becasue it is the easy choice, especially with the kids. Also kids menu is really limited, what about sandwiches or omlettes, or going out on a limb here......vegetables?!!!! There are a lot of kids that eat there alot and something a little healthier would be welcomed!
